/ 09/12/2014. / – First Regional Conference „COMMON RESPONSE TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN“ in Pcinja district took place in Vranje, organized by the Human Rights Committee and SOS Hotline Vranje.

/ Bujanovac, 25. 11. 2014. / In the framework of the „With concerted efforts – toward European standards in the protection of women from gender-based violence“ and marking of the November 25 – International Day Against Violence Against Women and the beginning of the international campaign „16 Days of Activism“ Human Rights Committee Vranje / SOS Hotline Vranje and the Autonomous Women’s Center (AWC) Belgrade organized a round table „The importance of Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Fighting Violence against women “ in Bujanovac.
In 2013, 43 women killed in Serbia. By November 21, 2014, police received more than 20,000 reports while social work centers registered more than 9,000 victims of domestic violence.
Studies have shown that one in five women harassed by a family member, a current or former partner.

Belgrade / – At the press conference, Autonomous Women’s Center presented applications for mobile phones „Safe“ that allows women to send an urgent call for help to loved ones, but to call the police, emergency services, social work center or emergency phone in your city at the moment of threat.
The first set of postcards will remind the authorities of the promises made in the previous phase of the campaign “I sign” sent yesterday to decision makers at the national level. Autonomous Women’s Center and partner organizations in Nis, Vranje, Novi Sad, Kikinda, Krusevac and Uzice will continue to ask the responsibility of decision-makers at national and local level in relation to the promised changes to the law and the situation in the field of protection of women against violence.

/ Belgrade, July 31, 2014. / Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence comes into force on August 1, 2014. This is an important step in the history of the women’s movement, as well as a reminder of how much remains to be done to improve the status of women and their children who have suffered violence.
