/ July 29 – 30, 2016. / The seminar took place on 29 and 30 July 2016 in Vranje, organized by the Human Rights Committee Vranje – SOS Hotline Vranje, within the framework of the program of work and the building of the Regional Network of CSOs and institutions against violence against women in the Pcinja District.
The lecturer was Lidija Milanovic, an associate of “The Center for Research and Development of Society – IDEAS “ from Belgrade and program manager for the development of the social protection system, an expert in the field of working with victims of violence.
The seminar attended by representatives of institutions (CSW, police, courts, Prosecutor’s Office, Health care system) from all seven municipalities of Pcinja District: Bujanovac, Presevo, Vranje, Vladicin Han, Surdulica, Trgoviste, and Bosilegrad.
The two-day seminar included the following topics: Regional network and direct protection of victims at the municipal and inter-municipal level, development of human resources, improvement of procedures and organization of the network, a prerequisite for its functioning – early detection of violence, the implementation of the Protocol for protection against domestic violence.
Human Rights Committee Vranje – SOS Hotline Vranje, presented the study realized from 2014 concerning the registration of victims of domestic violence in institutions and CSOs.
The initiative for the creation of a regional network in the field of combating violence against women on December 9, 2014, signed by about 100 participants of the Regional Conference on violence against women in the Pcinja District, organized by the SOS Hotline Vranje.
The importance of inter-sectoral cooperation and joint effective work of NGOs and professionals to combat domestic violence, one of the leading problems in society in present times, defined by the General and Individual protocols relating to the work of the police, centers for social work, so as Health care and Justice systems.
The creation of effective conditions for rapid response to violence against women in the family and in partner relationships is the obligation of Serbia, but also of all institutions within the framework of application of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.
In the construction of the Regional Network in 2015 SOS Hotline Vranje organized basic workshops for local networks to combat domestic violence in all seven municipalities in Pcinja District.
The seminar has been approved by the Chamber of Social Protection in Serbia.
