/ Vranje, September 16, 2016 / On the occasion of 16 September, the International Day of the Ozone Layer, the Human Rights Committee Vranje organized a round table „TOWARDS EUROPE – CHAPTER 27 AARHUS CONVENTION AND THE CITY OF VRANjE“.
The round table was organized in Vranje, within the same project, with the support of the city of Vranje.
The meeting was attended by representatives of institutions, local government experts, NGOs in the field of ecology from Vranje and Vranjska banja.
The Aarhus Convention, the Law of the Republic of Serbia on the Aarhus Convention and the negotiation chapter 27 were on the agenda of the meeting. Participants were presented Chapter 27 details the benefits and obligations that it brings a series of regulations and procedures that are covered in Chapter 27. It was said about the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice, experience in its application to the local level.
Panelist was Master Snežana Milošević, an expert in the field of ecology.
The round table was pointed to the role of local communities in the process of accession to the EU and the importance of the application of the Aarhus Convention to the strengthening of democracy in the environmental field.
