/ Vranje, May 26,2017./Centar for Public Policy Research (CENTAR) in partnership with the Human Rights Committee Vranje organized a workshop on „Misuse of firearms and gender-based violence“, which was attended by forty representatives of institutions and the media from all municipalities of the Pcinja District.
A working lunch was organized for journalists and editors of media outlets, which was an opportunity to directly interview with participants and receive specific information and data on the presence of this problem in society, as well as the importance of objective reporting without sensationalism when it comes to violence against women, especially in cases of firearms involvement.
The workshop presents the results of research conducted by the Center within the project “Analysis of misuse of firearms and the impact on gender-based violence through civil action and public policy advocacy. “

About the use of firearms in security of the women in the family and partner violence, the current legal framework, as well as the beginning of the implementation of the new Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence spoke: Tanja Jakobi, executive director of the Center for Public Policy Research and Dr. Danijela Spasic, expert associate of the Center.
Suzana Antic Ristic of the Human Rights Committee Vranje spoke on the experiences of women who contacted the SOS Hotline Vranje.
