/October 18, 2015, Vranje/ The Human Rights Committee Vranje – SOS Hotline Vranje marked the October 18 – EUROPEAN DAY AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING – at local sporting event, where was set up a booth with information material related to human trafficking.
We informed and warned the audience about the dangers of trafficking by distributing leaflets and posting posters .
Human trafficking is a serious crime and a serious social problem because it drastically undermines basic human rights – the right to life, the right to choose, and the right to freedom of movement. When a person is sold or bought in order to be misused, so forced into sex-related activities, begging, domestic work, theft or marriage, we are talking about human trafficking.
Fleeing from war and poverty over 180,000 refugees had passed through Serbia. These people are at increased risk of being trafficked.
Human Rights Committee Vranje is part of the anti-trafficking (AT) network, which is an alliance of CSOs against human trafficking and which, in cooperation with relevant stakeholders designs and implements activities to prevent, reduce and solve the problem of human trafficking.
